Manchester United's Champions League Exit: The Facts and Figures You Need to Know

Manchester United, commenly known as one of the biggest clubs in England finished bottom of their group in the Champions League this season. Not even having the opportunity to make a run in the Europa League. After 6 games, they finished with 4pts and socring 12 goals, to me it doesn't really add up. At the same time, they did concede 15 goals which left them with a -3 GD (Goal Difference) which is tied for worse in their group. So, that explains it for me.

Things haven't really been going right for the 'Red Devils' this season, whether it's in the Champions League or the Premier League. They just simply haven't been that great and frankly their players haven't been playing that great either. Not sure if it has to do with the players not believing in the manager or just the manager's tactics not clicking as intended. Erik Ten Hag needs to motivate his players better because it doesn't seem like they are. Some of their goal scorers from last season haven't had the same run of form lately and their defense has been mediocre at best.

With them being 6th in the Premier League, 7pts away from 4th place Manchest city (shocker I know) and 10pts from first place Liverpool, it seems that not making it out of the group stages might be good for them as it would allow them to focus more on finishing top 4 and not having to worry about resting players for a midweek Champions League game.

With that being said, it is somewhat still early in the season and things can turn around for Manchester United. The January transfer window will give them an opportunity to strengthen their squad if done correctly and who knows, they might still finish top 4 and secure Champions League football for next season or at the very least a spot in the Europa League group stages. Although I wouldn't bet on it, time will tell.
